Between imagination
and systemic thinking.

Miguel Melo at sea, animated portrait

Miguel Melo is a brand strategist and design thinker whose practice moves at the edges of the possible, blending speculative design, cultural research, and innovation.

He holds a degree in Industrial Design from IADE (Lisbon) and a Master’s in Business Design from Domus Academy (Milan). His career spans international experience at Pininfarina Extra (Turin), Brandia Central, and later as co-founder of Futurista, developing award-winning projects that merge creativity with strategy.

Having lived in Macau, Milan, and Turin, he is now based between Lisbon and Guimarães, collaborating with brands, institutions, and cultural agents. His practice frames the brand as cultural infrastructure — more than a commercial artefact, a narrative capable of shaping perceptions, behaviours, and futures.

He is regularly invited to talks and conferences at universities and cultural institutions, addressing themes of branding, brand strategy, and communication.

Alongside his consultancy, he develops speculative and cultural projects that explore alternative futures, symbolic ecologies and post-capitalist narratives, questioning the relationship between systems, symbols and collective imagination.

Moving between narrative imagination and systemic thinking, he reimagines what is yet to come. He explores the brand as cultural infrastructure and as a lens for speculative futures.
